What does one do when they cannot present dance live on stage? In the case of choreographer/dancer Maxine Sherman and composer/videographer Steven Brent, they create a new way of seeing movement that cannot be accomplished in person.
RiverArts was envisioned and brought to life by visual artists over 50 years ago. Their pioneering artistic spirit continues to thrive today, as we find new ways to bring color, texture, light, and perspective to our Hudson River community.

“‘Imprint of Light’ is a unique collaboration of music and dance celebrating the wonder of the human body and our relationship to the elements of nature,” RiverArts’ artistic director Kate Ashby said. “The combination of music, dance, and visual images inspires us to see the dance and the world around us in a new light, through the lens of the imagination.
Friends, family, artists, and collaborators celebrated the achievements of RiverArts’ former executive and artistic director during “Up Close & Virtual: Honoring Doug Coe,” on Saturday, April 24th.
The program, a collection of pre-recorded performances and personal messages, was streamed to a live audience. You can watch the celebration here: https://givebutter.com/zTO11t.
Starting this weekend, however, RiverArts will resume Salon Sundays, through which artists will use Instagram Live to welcome viewers virtually.
The first of six Salon Sundays, on April 11 at 3 p.m., will feature Monica Carrier of Tarrytown and Jane Kang Lawrence of Sleepy Hollow, the co-owners of Peep Space, an art gallery located at 92 Central Avenue in Tarrytown.“
