SummerArts Teaching Artists
RiverArts seeks SummerArts Faculty for our Summer Camp season! Are you a passionate teaching artist looking to share your love of the arts with families? We’re inviting experienced artist educators to apply to be a part of our SummerArts faculty. Each summer we offer an array of artistic programming spanning painting, collage, weaving, mosaic, movement, dance, music, storytelling, comic illustration, and more! If you have a great class idea and are interested in running a week-long day camp this August, we’d love to hear from you.
Description:
Reporting to the SummerArts Camp Director, SummerArts faculty members are responsible for running a week-long (Mon-Fri) camp program in an artistic discipline. This is an exciting position that helps to successfully serve 120 students a year through our prized day camp, SummerArts, which provides hands-on, artist-led learning in a variety of media and disciplines to children grades 3-9.
Faculty devise and share their own curriculum for a weeklong camp serving 10-12 students in 4 daily sessions for 5 days between 8:30-3:30pm. Curriculum should be adaptable to accommodate for grades 3-5, and 6-9, taking into account the typical ages and abilities for those grade levels.
General Responsibilities:

- RiverArts believes in supporting the practice of experienced teaching artists and invites faculty to design their own age-appropriate curriculum in a media and artistic discipline suited to the faculty member’s area of interest
- Administrative
- Work with Camp Director to plan supply order within budget
- Communicate to parents and families via email during camp weeks as needed
- Assist SummerArts Camp Director in taking attendance of students at the start of each class
- Submitting class description, artist bio, and other materials as needed to SummerArts Camp Director
- Setup & Cleanup
- Set up and clean up on time for each day and week’s sessions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
- 3+ years of teaching experience in your artistic discipline
- Strong attention to detail; Excellent organizational and classroom management skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Sharepoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work onsite from 8:30-3:30pm during the camp weeks (Aug 3-21)
- Familiarity with lower Westchester County events and programs
- Professional and responsible demeanor
- Clear and effective writer, communicator, and program developer (without the use of AI technology)
- First Aid certification a plus
Compensation & Benefits:
- This is a contracted position with compensation at $1,000 per 5-day camp

Music Lesson Program Teachers
Are you a passionate teacher looking to assist K-12 and adult students in their music studies? We accept rolling applications for new faculty to support the growing needs of our program.
Description:
We are proud to work with a talented and diverse team of faculty to provide after school music education in Hastings and Dobbs Ferry.
The Music Lesson Program is an after school supplemental program provided by RiverArts to families and adults. Lessons are held in person in our partner venues Monday-Friday between 3:30-8pm. Currently we offer individual lessons for K-12 graders and adults in full semester packages (16-18 weeks) and/or class packages (4, 6, or 8 lessons) in 30, 45, and 60 minute sessions taught weekly.
Fall semester runs September to January; Spring runs February through June; Summer instruction is scheduled in July and August. We hold student recitals each January and May. Instruments taught include: bass, bassoon, cello, double bass, clarinet, euphonium, flute, guitar, oboe, saxophone, trumpet, trumbone, tuba, ukulele, viola, violin, and voice.
Teachers must have demonstrated experience teaching in their discipline independently and preferably within public school settings or youth-centered spaces. They are supported by a part-time Education & Operations Coordinator who handles student enrollment, scheduling of available spaces, semester information, and payroll. The program is run under the supervision of RiverArts’ Executive Director and our venue partners.

General Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction to students to fit their needs
- Prepare interested students for Semester Recitals (January/June)
- Attend recitals where students are participating
- Under the guidance of the Education & Operations Coordinator, maintain a routine schedule and attendance in assigned spaces
- Encourage students to re-enroll for upcoming semesters
- Notify Education & Operations Coordinator of any missed classes or issues
- Possess own instrument and equipment for applicable lessons (pianos are provided by venue partners)
Qualifications:
- Degree in subject area
- Prior experience in teaching individualized lessons
- Ability to drive to lesson locations
- Knowledge of Microsoft including Sharepoint, Outlook, and Excel, preferred
- Professional and responsible demeanor
Compensation & Benefits:
- This is a part-time contracted position with a flexible schedule of 1-10 hours per week, depending on registration and teacher availability
- $50-65 per hour, paid monthly
