About the Jeffrey Lewis
Raised on New York’s Lower East Side, Jeffrey Lewis is a songwriter, comic book artist, and pioneer of the city’s anti-folk movement. Originally an aspiring comic creator, Lewis began performing his witty, heartfelt songs at open mics, pairing sharp observation with unfiltered honesty. Over time, those songs became the foundation of a singular artistic voice — one that bridges storytelling, music, and visual art. He is, in fact, a consummate songwriter, his personal tales achieving a kind of universal resonance through their candor. Lewis’s performances mix humor, insight, and a dose of Lower East Side grit, inviting listeners into worlds that feel at once deeply personal and instantly familiar.
