The interplay of the saxophone and the guitar are at the forefront while the structure of the writing, which stays in the jazz idiom, provides a springboard for improvisational sparks to fly.  Some songs were written before the pandemic, some during, and some after, but all of Charlie's compositions are derived from an internal spark from the connection between his heart and ears, influenced by his life as a teacher, father, and musician.

With confidence, lyricism, and a tonality that is suffused in warmth, saxophonist Matt Garrison fervently pursues the art-form of jazz as reflected in his own words, "I like to think that I am a translator of sorts.  A jazz musician, in my opinion, is supposed to interpret the world around them and convert those situations and feelings into music."  This is the essence of Garrison's voice and music.
