SUMMARY:Artist Conversation: Cross Pollination
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, March 2\, 20253–5pm \nTed & Nune Studio45 Main StreetHastings on Hudson\, NY 10706 \n \n \n \n \n \n Join us for an engaging afternoon as we meet for a moderated discussion with the five artists behind Collective Art Space (CAS). \nCAS is an experiment in the benefits of pooling together artistic resources and inviting others in. Over the last decade Alison Mara\, Jen Moore Smith\, Alison Cimmet\, Marisa Gonzales Silverstein\, and Raine Gifford have enjoyed working alongside each other within their shared studio space in Dobbs Ferry. The long-term exposure to one another’s work has revealed threads of influence in each artist’s choices and inspirations\, even as each individual’s practice remains unique and intact. \n\n \nThe studio is like a living entity\, fed by and sustaining its members\, and somehow more than the sum of its parts. Cross Pollination was first explored as an exhibit at the Donald Gallery and now as an Artist Conversation with RiverArts\, we invite you to explore the creative ecosystem and why artmaking within community may be the best thing an artist can do for themselves and their work.\n \n \n \nABOUT THE ARTISTS\n\nAlison Cimmet draws upon collage and painting techniques to create expressive mixed-media works full of texture and vibrant color.\n \nRaine Gifford‘s acrylic and watercolor paintings and mosaics investigate patterns of light\, color\, and negative space found within nature.\n \nMarisa Gonzales Silverstein crafts paper sculptures combining geometry and repetition in rhythmic patterns to reveal a contemplative understanding of significant data points.\n\nAlison Mara employs the use of tiny glass beads\, meditatively and painstakingly placed\, to create swirling patterns reflecting designs and textures found in nature. \nJen Moore Smith‘s practice encompasses painting and assemblage to reflect on the power of memory as it shapes landscape and natural elements. \n\n \n Purchase Tickets
