DESCRIPTION:Sankofa Drum Circle\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Monday\, July 29 – Thursday\, August 16:00 – 7:00 PMHastings Public Library*Orr Room (lower level\, but please enter through main entrance)7 Maple Avenue\, Hastings-On-Hudson\, NY*Class ends promptly by 7pm; please arrange for pickup of students by 6:50pm.$140 Class Fee \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				The class is appropriate for ages 12+ & adults. \nLed by Kofi Donkor\, Sankofa Drum Circle will take students on a week long journey through the rhythmic and oral tradition of West African drumming and culture. Sankofa means “going back to the roots” in the Twi language from Ghana.  The spirit of Sankofa\, and this class\, is to promote personal and community awareness through this art form steeped in West African cultural values and tradition. \nKofi will teach students the basics of hand drumming from breathing\, positioning to perfecting bass tones\, high tones and slap tones. Students will learn to lead the circle and be led\, regardless of their knowledge of drumming. DESCRIPTION:Register for Paper Quilling\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Quilling is an ancient art where paper is rolled\, twisted\, shaped\, and pinched into infinite stunning and unexpected shapes. Shapes like spirals\, S curves\, stars\, tear drops\, and more are combined to form larger images and environments. Artist Vicky Youngman will lead the class. Quilling is fun\, addicting\, relaxing\, and easy to learn. \nBefore you know it\, you’ll be creating all sorts of crafts for your friends and family. Great as gifts for Mother’s Day\, Easter or “Just thinking of you!” Come see what you can create! \nSUPPLIES\n\n\n\n\n\nSeveral sheets of colorful construction paper\, medium or heavy weight OR pre-cut quilling paper strips\nScissors\nTweezers\nEither a tooth pick\, skewer\, thin handled paint brush OR a quilling needle (to roll the paper strips around)\nPencil and ruler if you are going to cut your own strips\nWhite glue\, a plastic lid to hold a small amount at a time and small paint brush to apply it OR a glue applicator with a narrow tip\n\n\n\n\n\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				ABOUT VICKY YOUNGMAN\nVicky Youngman has a Master of Professional Studies in Creative Arts Therapy from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn\, NY\, and worked as an Art Therapist and administrator in healthcare settings for 23 years.  She taught art therapy for seven of those years at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and for a short time at College of New Rochelle. Her second career as a ceramic artist has enable her to exhibit and sell her work and continue her love of teaching. As a Professional Teaching Artist through ArtsWestchester since 2008 she has conducted ceramic arts residencies in schools and community sites and most recently Teen Tuesdays\, Family Arts Bash and Arts Mobile workshops. Youngman is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Pace University\, Pleasantville campus\, where she has taught ceramics since 2011. In addition she enjoys teaching a variety of pottery classes at Senior Centers\, preschools\, afterschool programs and summer camps throughout the region\, including The Clay Art Center in Port Chester\, NY. \n			\n				Register for Paper Quilling
