DESCRIPTION:Join us for our fourth chamber music concert of the 2025-2026 season! \nAbout the Musicians\nAnton Nel (piano)\, winner of the first prize in the 1987 Naumburg International Piano Competition at Carnegie Hall\, continues to enjoy a remarkable and multifaceted career spanning North and South America\, Europe\, Asia\, and South Africa. Highlights of his four decades of concertizing include performances with the Cleveland Orchestra and the symphonies of Chicago\, Dallas\, San Francisco\, Seattle\, Detroit\, and London\, drawing on an active repertoire of more than 100 works for piano and orchestra. An acclaimed Beethoven interpreter\, he has performed the complete concerto cycle\, all-Beethoven recitals\, and\, most recently\, the Diabelli Variations in Moises Kaufman’s play 33 Variations. \n“…an uncommonly elegant pianist.” — New York Times \n\nSought after as a performer and teacher\, Joseph Lin (violin) appears regularly throughout the U.S.\, Asia\, and Europe. He teaches violin and chamber music at The Juilliard School and served as first violinist of the Juilliard String Quartet from 2011 to 2018. Recent projects include period-instrument Beethoven and Schubert with Robert Levin\, complete Beethoven violin sonatas with Helen Huang\, and Bach cycles marking the 300th anniversary of the Sonatas and Partitas. A founding member of the Formosa Quartet\, Lin won the 2006 London String Quartet Competition\, the 1996 Concert Artists Guild Competition\, and the 2001 Michael Hill Violin Competition. \n\n Violist James Dunham’s rich background includes founding membership in the Naumburg Award-winning Sequoia String Quartet and later the Grammy Award-winning Cleveland Quartet. An advocate for new music\, he has premiered works by composers including Libby Larsen and Judith Shatin\, and in 2018 was among seven violists selected by John Harbison to premiere his Viola Sonata. A frequent guest with the American\, Jupiter\, Pacifica\, and Takács Quartets\, he is violist of the Smithsonian’s Axelrod String Quartet. Dunham is Professor of Viola and Chamber Music at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music\, where he co-directs the Master of Music in String Quartet program. \n “The rich\, loamy sound of violist James Dunham…improved the balance between piano and strings in Mendelssohn’s Third Piano Quartet\, Op. 3.” – Charles T. DESCRIPTION:Artists of all experience levels and backgrounds are welcome to join us for monthly life drawing sessions with a nude model. \nIn this non-instructional program we create a relaxing\, social\, and inclusive environment for the community to come together for a fun night of drawing. Participants can capture the human body in short and long poses. \nWe provide the live model\, you bring your creative energy! \nThere are tables to work at but you may bring your own easels to work from if you wish.Participants are responsible for providing their own supplies. \nWe ask that you arrive early to setup before the session begins at 7:30pm; if you are running late\, please wait to come in during the first break (around 7:50). \nAdvanced registration and pre-payment is required.
