SUMMARY:Virtual Salon Sundays | Rosalind Schneider
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, March 27 | on RiverArts’ Instagram Live\nRosalind Schneider | Mixed MediaWebsite | Blog \n \n \n \n \n \n Featuring Irvington-based artist\, Rosalind Schneider  \nRosalind Schneider creates work in video and painting that transcends its source to form a new reference to a visionary landscape.  The natural environment is a continuing source of inspiration. Layered landscapes progress from the real into abstraction and a fusion of the two.  They are expanded visions of the earth.  \nDigital Fusion paintings resulting from the capture of a video frame use computer technology as a starting point and are realized through hands-on manipulation. The surfaces are transformed by drawing\, acrylic and glass particle collage resulting in a luminous translation that speaks to its moving image origin.  Rosalind is most interested in the quality of light as a structural element.  The paintings are a fusion of multiple realities that are birthed from video.  \nAn extensive exhibition history includes the Hammond Museum\, the Hirshhorn Museum\, the Bronx Museum\, the Chelsea Museum\, the Hudson River Museum\, the NY Hall of Science millennium exhibit\, the Whitney Museum “The Color of Ritual\, The Color of Thought\, Women Avant-Garde Filmmakers in America\,” MOMA “Carte Blanche: Women Writing the Language of Cinema.” An installation of hers was chosen for the closing event of Art Basel at the Miami Beach Cinematheque.  Her 16mm films are currently being restored by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and will be part of the Academy Museum.  Rosalind attended Syracuse University School of Art\, Empire State College and the Arts Students League.   \nWebsite: www.rosalindscheiderart.com \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n How to watch Instagram Live:\nOne watches a live broadcast on the Instagram app on your mobile device or on Instagram.com. An exciting opportunity to gain insights into the creative process\, learn about techniques in a variety of media and interact with artists here in the Rivertowns community. \nEvents in February and March will be virtual\, held on Instagram Live. In April\, May and June\, we resume Salon Sundays in-person. \nSalon Sundays are inspired by the French salons founded in the 18th century as a means for new and emerging artists to gather and show their works in large numbers. Artists filled the walls\, floor to ceiling\, exhibiting anything and everything for the public and each other. Salons drew intellectuals\, writers\, poets\, sculptors\, painters\, printmakers\, supporters\, and those interested in engaging with the creative community. \n“We strongly encourage anyone attending a Salon Sunday to come with their curiosity peaked\, ask questions\, and learn who’s who in the local art community. It’s powerful to interact with artists in their space. We’re hoping this event will increase community involvement and provide a chance to meet one-on-one with area artists and experience art up close.” Jeff Dietz\, Producer\, Salon Sundays.\n \n \n \n \n \n To ensure the safety of our audience and artists\, proof of vaccination and masks are required for the in-person events. \nFOR MORE INFORMATION EMAIL:\nJeff Dietz\, Salon Sundays Producer\,  SalonSundays@riverarts.org \n \n \n \n \n \n #SalonSundays#RosalindSchneider
