Kit Demirdelen | Board member

kitKit Demirdelen is an artist, art therapist, and educator, and also serves as a Commissioner of the Hastings Village Arts Commission. In her studio, she works in fabric and jewelry and shows in exhibitions and online. She has had solo shows of her art in the RiverArts Studio Tour, Rivertowns galleries, and group exhibitions in New Rochelle and Beacon, NY.

As a teaching artist/art therapist she serves special needs populations at the Queens Museum of Art. In eight years at the museum, she has worked at all levels of outreach for children and adults to design, plan and implement services as a coordinator of ArtAccess, a nationally recognized program for visitors with special needs. As a former artist-in-residence at the Hudson River Museum, she worked with autistic students at PS 29 in Yonkers.

After attending Bennington College, she earned an MA in Art Therapy at Hofstra University, and is an affiliate of the American Art Therapy Association.

Prior to her career in art, Kit designed, built and operated a café/restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, which she describes as “the true test of management skills.”
