Ellen Prior | Board Member
Ellen Prior is the Associate Director of Jazz Forum Arts, one of the country’s premier not-for-profit presenters of this distinctly American art form. For over 30 years, JFA has brought jazz greats as well as emerging artists to New York’s jazz meccas. In Westchester, JFA currently presents dozens of free concerts every summer, including those at Lyndhurst, Sleepy Hollow, and the Dobbs Ferry Waterfront, where for 17 years RiverArts is proud to be a promotional partner. In spring 2017, Jazz Forum Arts will open the only dedicated jazz club and wine bar in Westchester, the Jazz Forum in Tarrytown.
The former Director of Human Resources at Trinity Wall Street, Ellen served the 250 staff members who realize the diverse programs of this historic institution. Her nonprofit clients as a management consultant, working as an independent or for the Hay Group, have included the American Museum of Natural History, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, Planned Parenthood, Bridges to Community, and Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen. This year she re-launched her eponymous Consulting Group.
Ellen earned an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business and a BA in American Studies from Barnard College. She has volunteered for HOUR Children, an employment preparation program for formerly incarcerated mothers, Destination Imagination, and Trinity Mission & Service Engagements in New Orleans and Panama. She was a co-founder and Board Chair of the former Ovation Music Education Program in Dobbs Ferry, and is a past Vice President of RiverArts.
